Why did DISD send a trustee out to Las Vegas last week?

Amazing the waste generated within DISD to send a board member to Vegas when Vegas ISD can easily afford to come here. Just another fun trip paid on taxpayer money. I can only imagine what got acomplished, CHA CHING?

DISD to Las Vegas
There was "NO NEED" to send a school board member to Las Vegas! Las Vegas already knew about all the firings here at DISD and were to send some representatives here to Dallas anyway. The fat no nothing cats have struck again and at a time when even a few dollars can make a difference in a teacher staying or not. When will DISD ever learn and when will the community and city of Dallas learn that ALL present school board members need their pink slips when they are up for re-election. After all look what happened on their watch.
Key to firing Dr. Hinjosa
This will take a community effort but I have seen it accomplished. There is a district called Socorro ISD. The school board made the mistake of hiring a superintendent by the name of Dr. Atkinson. She started by mistreating the principals and then replacing stellar people with personal friends. The whole community joined together and placed several people to run against the board. Well, everyone on the board that was up for election was replaced. She was fired within a few days. This may be the best way to go but will take alot of work by the community.
Trustee to Las Vegas
I can only imagine that it was/is something BIG in this deal for Ron Price-free trips/hotel accommodations/spending money for his pockets to try to SELL us to Vegas.
Price and Las Vegas
Perhaps we should be asking the question: how much did it cost (easy to find out) and did it get our displaced teachers job offers (which it did)?
Readers of this website know that I've been a big critic of Price's over the last several years. Recently, however, I've been seeing a much-improved, more professional Ron Price.
I'll do the open records request, but I doubt you would see Ron in too many casinos these days.

I live in the Lakewood area and several of us parents got together this weekend and our conversation turned to Ron Price and his recent behavior at the last board meeting. Basically, we want to run another candidate against him. However, we cannot find on line, when he is up for re-election. Will you please inform us? Also, did anyone run against him. Please give us any information you have.

Ron's Term
He's up for re-election next year. He has indicated, in the past, that this is his last term and he won't be running again.
He drew a decent opponent (Bernadette Nutall) the last time around who nearly unseated him.

I would remind you that Ron also told most of the DISD staff last fall that he was moving to Africa. So, what he says now and what he does in the future are not always in perfect alignment. WW mom is advised to find someone--ANYONE--to run against him.

Done! We have a candidate--a good candidate that will run against Price. Actually, we've been thinking and talking about it all weekend.
Let me get to the point, we have never really cared much for Price, but when he betrayed our teachers, the gloves came off. Long and Woodrow students stand to lose so much and we're not going down without the fight of our lives. WE want Hinojosa and his cabinet OUT! The first step is getting Price out and replacing him with a board member that will vote for the good of the children.
It's time for a change.
