Dallas Child Sex Predator Lives Anonymously In California

UPDATE: 9/29 - US Probation Office Responds
Phillip Todd Calvin, according to the State of Arkansas, is a level 4 "sexually violent predator." Calvin was released from prison in January, 2007, to serve the rest of his sentence on probation.
Today, Calvin lives in relative privacy and anonymity somewhere in Zip code 94108: San Francisco, California.
According to a San Francisco Police spokesperson, Calvin's whereabouts have been protected at the direction of the Federal government.
Calvin, known as the "Singing Dentist," lived the life of luxury in Dallas and had a thriving dental practice until 2005.
February 12, 2005 to be exact.
On that day, Calvin and 2 other members of a shadowy pedophile organization were arrested in an undercover federal sting operation on San Diego's Harbor Island.
Calvin and the others had planned a trip to Mexico where they intended to have sex with underage boys--some as young as 8 years old.
One of the men who helped "plan" the trip, however, turned out to be an undercover FBI agent.
The FBI sting ultimately netted Calvin and 6 others up and down the coast of California.
Calvin pleaded guilty in February, 2006, to federal charges and was sentenced to 24 months in prison. He was released on January 14, 2007.
Calvin hit the spotlight again in 2007 when an Arkansas television station exposed flaws with the state's sex offender registry.
Calvin, apparently, quietly left Arkansas and moved to San Francisco.
California's registry shows Calvin's "specific address not subject to disclosure."
"He's in compliance [with California's sex offender registration laws]," said San Francisco Police Spokesperson Sergeant Lyn Tomioka. "He is known to us."
But Calvin is apparently not known to people and families in his community.
Asked why the address of a "sexually violent predator" would be concealed, Tomioka said it was the U.S. Department of Justice's decision.
"It was an assessment they made," said Tomioka.
Update: That's not true according to Tony Castellano of the U.S. Probation Office in San Francisco. "The assessment is done by the State of California."
Castellano would not comment on where Calvin lived or what he did for a living. "We don't comment on the [specifics of] anyone's probation."
We posed the question: if Calvin were in a park watching children, would the U.S. Probation office know? Castellano would not comment.
This leaves several questions unanswered. First, are Calvin's neighbors even aware of his presence? More importantly, who actually made the decision that allows Calvin's whereabouts to remain confidential.
We are awaiting a reaction from the San Francisco Mayor's office and Representative Nancy Pelosi--in whose District Calvin resides.
There is no information on how many other federal sex offenders' addresses may be protected by Federal or State governments. The extent of the problem, if it is a problem, remains unknown.

I can't say much about it
I can't say much about it but it makes me think, I'm thinking of what's the point of knowing his address and whereabouts? If he's on probation I think there's someone responsible on taking a look on him and his doings, but its still important to warn people about these guys...just in case.
Probation
theres also a flaw in probation also. do u remember the story of the guy who kidnapped a girl and had kids with her., the whole time he was on probation and they were suppose to do house checks every month but they never checked she lived in a tent in thier backyard

[Ed Note: Very low profile guy right now... can't say I blame him!]
Spreading of pictures will
Spreading of pictures will help. He won't get away and that's for sure. Tracking him down is on progress.
SF officials allow violent predator Phillip Carlin to live QT
So he's known to them huh? Well that's just ducky but he needs to be known to the neighborhood. That's exactly why we have the list.
Who decided that was a good idea?
[Ed Note: We have some calls in to various people to find out.]
