Owner in Consignment Store Controversy is Convicted Felon
There is an interesting story brewing out of the Lake Highlands area regarding the mysterious closure of Red Cat Consignment and the disappearance of its clients' property.
According to The Advocate magazine and a Fox 4 News investigation, some of Red Cat's former customers have accused owners Stephen Randall "Steve" Hall and Marukh Feroze Hall of taking their property and selling it in private sales around the area. Steve Hall has said his business is in bankruptcy--though there was no record of the filing as of last week.
The Halls, who also own Hall's Landscaping, apparently contracted with customers to sell merchandise on consignment for a 50/50 split. Earlier this year, Red Cat abruptly ceased operations and the merchandise, along with the Halls, disappeared from the store.
A letter posted on the door of the former Red Cat store indicated that the Halls had abandoned their lease.
The Dallas Police Department has said the Halls committed no crimes.
Dallas.Org investigated Red Cat's owners and found that Marukh Feroze Hall is a convicted felon (court documents appear below).
Marukh Hall was convicted, in 2007, of DUI for the third time--a 3rd degree felony. She is serving 10 years probation after a short stay in the Dallas County Jail.
According to the Garland Police Department, one of its officers followed Marukh Hall in the early afternoon of May 4, 2007. The officer reported her car was weaving in and out of several lanes on the George Bush Freeway.
Marukh Hall was convicted again on September 12, 2007, of DWI after having been convicted on two prior occasions. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine. According to court records, the fine still has not been paid and, in fact, she applied to the Adult Probation Department for an extension of time in July, 2009.
The terms of Marukh Hall's probation, along with other arrest and court documents, appear below.

Google the Halls
Well those who were ripped off by these schlocksters can take comfort in knowing that when their names or businesses are googled the whole front page of results is about Marukh Hall being a felon and the Halls ripping people off. So people are being well warned about these two morons. Thank you for doing us all a service and digging into this questionable duo.
[Ed Note: Thanks for ringing our doorbell on this one. We have some more Marukh Hall material that needs to go up.]
No crime
Because people gave them their property willingly in a business deal. The people whose property is missing will need to file in civil court to recoup losses.
[Ed Note: These two may have exposed a new way to commit "legal theft" if this is the case. I'm still wondering how this isn't misappropriation of fiduciary responsibility. I bet there are criminal charges filed.]
Dallas Police Say No Crime?
How can two people excuse me one person and a convicted felon run off with all your stuff and sell it and have it not be a crime?
